The CTFA adopts a multi-level and formalised approach in understanding and listening to the cosmetic industry concerns. These platforms enable the CTFA to interface and work with industry to direct and drive industry specific mandates with government and stakeholders both locally and globally. These platforms are:
Technical Committee Meetings
Technical Committee Meetings support the CTFA’s internal technical direction, oversee the activity of technical sub-committees (Working Groups), and recommend to the Executive Committee positions for the association to take on technical and regulatory matters, support association during stakeholder engagement, lobbying and any other technical and/or regulatory aligned activity and assisting in the development of Codes of Practice and/or Practice Guidelines that are relevant to the needs of the cosmetic industry and in line with global practice.

Work Groups (WG’s)
Adhoc work group are established periodically to delve into detail and develop positions, commentary or documents (guidelines or best practice) for submission to stakeholders or for industry use.
Active Work Groups
Cosmetic regulations Work Group
This work group is made up of technical members from various member companies. The group includes representatives from different size companies to have a holistic approach to the commentary of the draft regulations.
The purpose of the work group is to contribute and discuss comments and proposals to the draft cosmetic regulations. The group’s second project will include the analysis and re-commenting on the redraft of the cosmetic regulations.
Relaxer Work Group
This work group consists of experts in ethnic hair relaxing systems. The purpose of the work group is to ensure that responsible manufacture of hair relaxers takes place to provide safe and efficacious product to the consumer.
GCP Work Group
The purpose of the work group is to contribute and discuss comments and proposals of Good Clinical Practice.
Waste Management Work Group
This work group is aimed at proactively discussing potential alternative proposals that can be put forward to DEA and the Packaging Industry for consideration on the pending Waste Management Legislation.
