CTFA Annual Report 2021
VICE-CHAIRPERSON REPORT P R I Y A N P I L L A Y | V I C E - C H A I R P E R S O N 2021 has been another challenging year for us all. With continued levels of COVID-19 restrictions across the globe and civil unrest across parts of South Africa, we – as a nation and an industry – indeed have been tested. That said, in true South African spirit, we have witnessed bravery and resilience from all South Africans, including our members. The CTFA has been undeterred in its mission to support and develop a sustainable and respected South African cosmetic industry. Despite the challenges I have described above, the CTFA has continued its endeavours in representing the industry in key engagements with authorities in South Africa and across the continent. We are especially proud of the CTFA’s efforts during 2021 to adapt to the “new norm” and enhance access to assistance for our members during this time so that they are kept updated and well informed about technical matters and key industry issues. A huge thank-you to all our members who have continued to support the CTFA in 2021 and their commitment to collaborating and contributing to a responsible cosmetic regulatory environment in South Africa. Finally, 2022 will no doubt bring its own challenges, though there is already a sense of optimism as South Africans look to turn the corner to a brighter year ahead. Under Adelia’s strong operational leadership, together with Gilles and my fellow EXCO members, we will continue striving towards our vision and executing on our ongoing mission to support and develop a sustainable and respected cosmetic industry. I wish you all a prosperous year. Yours sincerely Priyan Pillay | Vice-Chairperson COSMETIC TOILETRY AND FRAGRANCE ASSOCIATION OF SOUTH AFRICA 04
